COMMITTEES

STANDING COMMITTEES OF COUNCIL

The Local Government Act (2002) empowers Councils to constitute standing Committees. Section 34 (1) of the Act states that ‘A Councils shall establish the Committees referred to in Part IV as the Finance Establishment, Development Committees and any other Committee a Council deems fit’.

In view of the foregoing, the Kanifing Municipal Council through a resolution, constituted twelve (12) Committees with clear terms of references to guide their operations. The following are the Committees:

1. Finance Committee
2. Establishment and Appointment Committee
3. Development Committee
4. Agriculture Committee
5. Contracts Committee
6. Arts, Culture, Tourism and Foreign Relations Committee
7. Accounts Committee
8. Youth and Sports Committee
9. Education Committee
10. Markets Committee
11. Environment and Sanitation Committee
12. Ward Waste Trucks Management Committee
