It is within the legal mandate of the Council to provide health care service to people of the municipality. In fulfillment of this important mandate, the Council has paid counter-part contributions to GAMWORKS for construction work for the expansion of the maternity ward at the Bundung Child and Maternity Ward Hospital. The Council also sponsors the Surgical Ward at the Serrekunda General Hospital.
In the past, the Council has received medical donations from the sister city of Madison, Wisconsin (in the United States).
