Mayor Bensouda Opens Two Reconstructed Sheds at Latrikunda Sabiji Market

This evening, amidst a downpour of heavy rains, Mayor Bensouda officially opened two reconstructed sheds at the Latrikunda Sabiji Market. The twin sheds, which were contracted to the MI20 Construction Company, are set to be used by women vendors. The newly constructed sheds will host hundreds of women, providing them with better facilities to sell their goods. This development is expected to significantly enhance the market environment for small-scale vendors, offering them a more secure and convenient space to conduct their business. By creating such markets, the KMC is fostering an environment that supports small-scale entrepreneurship, empowering women vendors, and contributing to the local economy. In addition to opening the sheds, the mayor also commissioned the refurbished KMC Police Office and a new borehole, both located within the market. These improvements are expected to enhance security and provide vendors with easier access to water, further supporting their daily operations. The opening ceremony was attended by hundreds of women vendors and officials from the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), underscoring the importance of this initiative for the community.
