Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) Debunks Minister of Works’ Claims on OIC Summit Preparation
The Kanifing Municipal Council wishes to clarify and debunk the recent statement made by the Honorable Minister of Works, regarding the cleaning efforts for the upcoming OIC Gambia summit . Under the dynamic leadership of Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda, KMC has been actively supporting the OIC committee in their preparations for the summit. Since the past three weeks, KMC has contributed significantly to the cleaning efforts in the Greater Banjul area. On Saturday, April 13th , 2024, KMC supported the OIC committee through the National Environment Agency (NEA) with 10 mbalit trucks, 8 compactors, and 2 open trucks. Following this, on April 20th and April 27th , KMC continued its support by providing additional trucks and cleaning materials to assist in the cleaning process. In addition to providing equipment, KMC also deployed 150 municipal police officers to help clean the roads within the Greater Banjul Area. The council believes that this event is of national interest, and as such, it is crucial for all political differences to be set aside in order to ensure the success of the summit. KMC remains committed to supporting the OIC committee in any way possible and will continue to provide assistance throughout the preparation period. We urge all residents to come together and work towards a joyous, peaceful, and successful summit.
