The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) took a significant step forward in its commitment to infrastructural development today as it signed a monumental contract agreement for its Road Network Project with Longjian Roads and Bridges Company. The project, fully funded by local taxes, marks a milestone in KMC’s efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure within the municipality.

Valued at D300 million, the road network project aims to construct 15.4 kilometers of tar roads and 5.9 kilometers of drains across the Kanifing Municipality. Scheduled to commence in May 2024, the three-year project will encompass the construction of 11 strategic roads, 2 bridges, and the entire drain network of Bakau Town.

The Kanifing Municipal Council Road Project Network represents a transformative initiative aimed at improving transportation infrastructure and fostering socio-economic development within our community. With roads serving as vital arteries for economic activity and social connectivity, this project holds immense significance in facilitating trade, enhancing accessibility, and elevating the overall quality of life for residents.

We extend our gratitude to the National Roads Authority (NRA), National Environment Agency (NEA), National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA), and Ministry of Works for their invaluable technical support and collaboration throughout the planning and execution phases of this project.

Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this journey of infrastructural advancement and community development.
