The Debt Unit is under the Finance Department of the Council. The Unit was established with the objective to recover all Council’s debt. Since its establishment, the Unit has contributed immensely in the resource mobilization of the Council. In 2019, the Debt Unit contributed about 14% annually of the Council’s income. This is a significant amount that enables the Council to fund development projects in its budget.
Tax payment is a compulsory act that every individual and business must comply with. The lack of perfect tax compliance in the municipality justified the creation of the Debt Unit.
With this in mind, the Council would like to urge all residents, both individuals and businesses, within the municipality to come forward and pay their taxes on time. With greater tax compliance comes greater development and service delivery in the municipality.
