Over the years, the Council has been instrumental in the development of youth and sports within the municipality. The continuous support accorded to teams of all sporting disciplines is a clear manifestation of the Council’s commitment to youth and sports development. Some examples of the Council’s commitment to Youth and Sports can be seen below. In 2014, the Council supported the Kanifing Municipality team in the pre-NAYCOF (National Youth Conference and Festival) assessment tour of structures for NAYCOF in Soma, LRR (Lower River Region).
The Council supported the Summer Youth Camp of 2017 in Mansakonko, 2018 Summer Youth Camp in Ziguinchor, Senegal, and 2019 Summer Youth Camp in Guinea Bissau. Furthermore, the Council supported the Serekunda East Sports Development Organization (SESDO) in the preparation of the 2019 football final. The Council has supported the National Volleyball Association, YMCA Annual Basketball and Volleyball tournaments, and the Mayoral Municipal Youth Retreat.
