KMC Receives Waste Collection Equipment from WACA ResIP II
The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) is delighted to announce the receipt of waste collection equipment from the West Africa Coastal Areas (WACA) Resilience Investment Project II (WACA ResIP II) under the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR).
The equipment was officially handed over today by the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Hon. Rohey John Manjang at the MECCNAR Complex in Abuko to support KMC’s ongoing efforts to improve waste management, environmental sanitation, and climate resilience within the Municipality.
The equipment received comprises:
1 Tractor head & trailer with tipping mechanism
2 Wei Fang Trailer with Tipping Mechanism (hydraulic)
1 Foton Auman 6-wheel Tipper truck
9 Tricycles
82 Wheelbarrows
164 Waste Bins (200-litre capacity)
These resources will significantly strengthen KMC’s waste collection capacity, particularly in communities along the Kotu Stream. The equipment will support improved solid waste collection, reduce indiscriminate dumping, promote cleaner neighbourhoods, enhance water flow, and contribute to reducing the risk of flooding.
The Council extends its heartfelt appreciation to the WACA ResIP II Project and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources for this generous support. This investment reflects a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and will greatly enhance KMC’s capacity to deliver efficient and reliable waste management services to the residents of Kanifing Municipality.
