DEPUTY MAYOR ATTENDS STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT FOR STRONG POLICY REFORMS ON DIGITAL RIGHTS AND DATA PROTECTION

The Deputy Mayor, Madam Binta Janneh Jallow earlier on today deputized the Lord Mayor at the SHOAW GAMBIA stakeholder Engagement and Validation workshop organized to track online gender-based violence in The Gambia.

SHOAW Gambia is an initiative that seeks to address the increasing harassment and online abuses of Women and Girls by targeting and identifying the root causes that often trigger harassment/abuse.

The Deputy in her address at the workshop, dilated on ways of addressing cyberbullying and harrassment of Women and girls and called for proactive steps to be taken to eradicate it in The Gambia.

The worsksop which was held at the Ocean Bay Hotel in Cape Point brought together National and local partners including the Mayor of Banjul, the National Assembly Member for Upper Saloum, representative from the Ministry of Communication, and representative from Women in Liberation and Leadership (WILL). Also in attendance was the Honorary Consul of The Nederlands to The Gambia.
